Council members cited a significant gap between projected revenue and departmental requests. The minutes note the library board’s most recent request was $60,862 higher than it was in FY2025; council asked the board to resubmit a revised request in the $135,000–$140,000 range and directed departments to return updated figures at the February meeting. The fire department agreed to remove $6,000 from its medical and wellness line, noting they likely will not conduct physicals in FY2027.
The council’s action is procedural direction rather than a formal adoption of a final budget. Follow-up will occur at the February meeting when reworked departmental requests are due and the council will consider additional adjustments before finalizing the FY2027 budget.
