Kay County approves interlocal mutual-aid pacts with nearby jurisdictions after flooding

In response to recent flooding and storm impacts, the Kay County Board approved multiple interlocal agreements to ensure mutual aid during emergencies. The agreements—approved on motion with DA Hermanson approving as to form—cover assistance arising from weather, fire or other natural causes and are with the Lake Blackwell Trust Authority, the Town of Braman, the City of Tonkawa and the City of Blackwell.
Commissioners noted that the agreements are intended to safeguard county residents and facilitate coordinated emergency response among neighboring jurisdictions. The motions carried with unanimous support and the DA’s approval as to form was recorded in the meeting minutes.
