Commissioners decline 250th‑anniversary bunting; approve ACCO‑SIF participation

Kay County commissioners declined a suggestion to hang patriotic bunting on the courthouse for the United States’ 250th anniversary due to concerns that the bunting would not withstand weather conditions and because of installation/removal costs. Clerk Tammy Reese said the Centennial Committee wanted a display replicating the courthouse’s dedication 100 years ago; the board decided the bunting will be displayed for the Centennial Celebration instead.
Separately, the Board approved Resolution No. 25, 26‑140 to execute the agreement establishing the Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma Self‑Insured Fund and indicated intent to participate in ACCO‑SIF for FY 2026–2027. DA Hermanson approved the resolution as to form.
