Superintendent Caldwell said staff reran financial projections with the treasurer’s office and "the numbers came back more favorable for us" if the district extended the agreement; "we will actually get reimbursed at a higher rate than what we have been getting reimbursed the past couple years," he said. Board members moved and seconded the motion and approved it by roll call.
Administrators noted rising participation in school meal programs in recent years and framed the extension as benefitting students and improving reimbursements to the district. The board did not tie the extension to any immediate changes in meal eligibility or collection procedures.
