The Fairfield Union Local Board of Education voted to approve a contract with Sport Safe Testing Service, Inc. to provide student drug testing and waived the first reading of a related policy update to align the district’s language with current testing methods.
Superintendent Caldwell told the board the change is limited to the name and method of the test the vendor uses and does not alter procedures for students. "I would request that we'll consider waiving a 1st reading and approving that," he said while explaining the district worked with the vendor and the legal team to finalize the agreement. The administration said the vendor shift became necessary after the district’s prior provider stopped that service.
Board members moved, seconded and recorded roll-call votes on the contract motion; the motion passed. The contract and policy revision were presented as operational updates rather than a change to collection or discipline procedures; board members did not propose substantive changes to the policy text during the meeting.
