The Josephine Planning and Zoning Commission voted on Aug. 3 to recommend approval of a rezoning that would change a remaining 1.16-acre parcel at 5792 FM 6 from M-1 (manufacturing) to C (general commercial).
Miguel, the city planner, told commissioners the parcel previously hosted a small shop, which explained the M-1 classification, and that converting it to commercial zoning would permit less intense uses and support the city’s goal of attracting commercial development. “We recommend approval because it allows for less intense uses and furthers our goals of attracting commercial development,” Miguel said.
The public hearing for this item had no recorded substantive opposition. The chair moved to recommend approval and the commission voted 'all in favor'; the item passed and will be forwarded to the city council for any required follow-up related to annexation or ordinance changes.
