The City Council unanimously adopted agenda item 25-010 to amend the position-control roster and create a deputy community development director post to backfill and support the existing community development workload. City Manager Robbie explained that the community development department is small and the new position will allow the city to hire a higher-level backfill rather than only a planner.
Robbie summarized the staffing rationale: "We've been trying to find that person, a city planner, to help to back back that up... I did find a person who would come in and be able to step up and be a deputy community development director." Councilmembers expressed support for additional capacity and the motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
