County Departments Update Board on Services; Community Development Reports Rising Permit Workload
Summary
GIS, library, social services, Children's Services Act (CSA) and Community Development staff briefed the board on services, outreach and workloads. Community Development reported more than 8,000 inspections this fiscal year and growth in ag/forestal district acreage.
Multiple county departments briefed the Board of Supervisors on June 9 about services, programs and workloads.
Mr. Chris Way described GIS work, saying "data related to parcels, zoning, easements, addressing, and roads make up a majority of his workload," and provided contact information and the GIS website. Mr. Sandy Whitesides highlighted the library's nonbook services such as a puzzle exchange, video games and technology services. Ms. Beth Delullo outlined Social Services programs including SNAP, daycare assistance, foster care, adoptions and Medicaid outreach. Mr. Matt Gochenour said recent policy and procedure changes have reduced Children's Services Act (CSA) expenditures.
Community Development's Lemuel Hancock reported the Building Department has completed over 8,000 inspections this fiscal year, presented stormwater and erosion-control workload data, and said the agricultural and forestal district expanded by more than 400 acres with potential renewals over roughly 18,000 acres. Supervisors noted the increased workload and community engagement around permitting and inspections.
