Council establishes Civic Engagement Award, names initial recipient and sets annual process

"We felt like this was a great opportunity to expand that program a little bit to continue to recognize residents," Councilmember Zack Robinson said, explaining that the award builds on the existing Noel Bateman program and that council staff helped craft selection criteria. Councilmember Allison Stroud added that committee members who reviewed the idea were overwhelmingly supportive.
Councilmember Marcy Hausman moved to adopt Resolution 25-43 establishing the Civic Engagement Award and to identify an initial recipient for next week’s dinner; a second was called and the motion carried 6–0. The resolution calls for council members to nominate candidates and for the council to deliberate in closed session before announcing the recipient.
Why it matters: the award institutionalizes a council-selected civic recognition and creates a recurring opportunity to highlight local volunteer leadership and community engagement.
