Several residents who live across the street from the Alta Canyon Sports Center raised concerns during public comment about construction impacts, noise, safety, grading and the building's final exterior treatments.
Albert Chen, who said he lives at 9563 Kendall, asked about construction noise and long-term safety, and whether exterior colors and lighting were finalized. "I'm here to express my concerns regarding the noise and the safety, both during the construction and after construction," he said. Staff responded that construction staging will use the field for temporary staging, materials will be stored on the site, a temporary entrance will be established for construction vehicles, and the construction area will be screened by a six-foot fence with visual screening.
Residents also asked whether the city planned to make exterior playground or landscape improvements; Dan Medina said those would be considered in a future phase and are not part of the current site plan. Staff reiterated that the planning commission hearing was the public hearing opportunity for the architecture and parking decisions and offered neighbors individual follow-up via contact information posted on the Sandy City website.
