Council approves Kershaw annexation (Ordinance 25-21) after public hearing

Sandy City Council adopted ordinance 25-21 to annex about 9 acres (24 parcels) into the city under an R-1-8 zone; 16 of 24 property owners signed consent forms (67%). The motion carried 6–0 on a roll call vote.
After a public hearing with no in-person or virtual comment, the Sandy City Council voted to adopt ordinance 25-21 to annex the Kershaw properties and apply an R-1-8 residential zone consistent with existing county zoning.
Assistant development director Brian McKuson told the council the annexation covers about nine acres along 1350/1380/1400 East just south of 9400 South, and that 16 of the 24 parcel owners had submitted written consent to annex (67%). Council member Ryan Meekum moved adoption; the motion received a second and passed on a roll call vote of 6 to 0. Council members welcomed the neighborhood into Sandy City.
No public speakers registered for tonight’s hearing on the Kershaw annexation. The Planning Commission reviewed the proposal on Aug. 7 and forwarded a unanimous positive recommendation to the council.
