Anaconda Housing Authority begins RAD conversion; tenant relocations planned, PBV conversion May 1

At its April 16, 2026 regular meeting the Housing Authority of the City of Anaconda received an update on the Rent-ALignment Demonstration (RAD) conversion. Secretary Kaitlin Leary said the RAD project "is in full swing," with one-on-one tenant meetings underway to sign new leases and begin relocation planning for construction.
Leary told the board that interior demolition at Mount Haggin Homes began the previous week and that the plan is to work on vacant units at Mount Haggin and Cedar Park concurrently, with estimated tenant relocation start time beginning in June. She stated that the Public Housing Program officially ends on April 30, 2026 and that on May 1, 2026 the Authority will operate as a Section 8 Project Based Voucher (PBV) program, with all new tenant leases effective May 1, 2026. Leary also noted staff currently do not have access to the new software required for the conversion and that Good Housing Partnership (GHP) is assisting to get systems in place.
The update did not propose a new board action at the meeting; instead staff are continuing tenant meetings and relocation planning. The board did not vote on any relocation policies at this session.
