Council reviews several infrastructure projects: geothermal ITB, bridge RFPs, River Walk bids over budget, library and capital-outlay requests

Mayor Nealeigh updated the Council on capital projects: a second ITB for a geothermal well was issued July 16 with bid openings July 27; a second RFP for South Mooney Bridge design is due Aug. 13; River Walk bids exceeded budget; and three Capital Outlay requests are in DFA processing ($250,000 playground, $150,000 park toilets, $75,000 visitor center furnishings).
Mayor Michael Nealeigh provided an update on multiple capital projects and funding efforts. He said a second Invitation to Bid for the geothermal well was issued July 16 with bid openings scheduled for Monday, July 27, and a second request for proposals for the South Mooney Bridge replacement plan and design was issued July 16 with submissions due Aug. 13. Nealeigh also said funding applications for the North Mooney Bridge and park-entrance designs were submitted to the state transportation department in June.
Nealeigh reported that River Walk construction bids exceeded the budget and the Council is reviewing alternative funding combinations. He said construction on library entrances is ongoing, delivery of a John Deere tractor and state approval for library HVAC upgrades remain pending, and three Capital Outlay projects are being processed by DFA: $250,000 for a playground at the community park, $150,000 for community-park toilets, and $75,000 for community/visitor-center furnishings and equipment.
