Council approves police SOPs as chief prepares to depart; recruitment to begin
Summary
The Council unanimously approved Police Department standard operating procedures for registered-offender information, major-incident notifications and death investigations. Mayor Nealeigh also reported Chief Joe Moreno submitted his resignation effective at the end of the week, and the village will advertise to fill the vacancy.
Council reviewed standard operating procedures covering registered-offender information, major-incident notifications and death-investigation procedures and approved them on a motion by Trustee Robert Wilson, seconded by Trustee James McCue. The motion passed unanimously by roll call vote.
Mayor Michael Nealeigh also informed the Council that Chief of Police Joe Moreno submitted his resignation effective at the end of the week (noted in the minutes as June 24). Advertisements to fill the chief vacancy will begin immediately, and the Council did not take additional personnel action during this meeting.
