David, the grounds coordinator for the parks maintenance division, gave a detailed update on spring and early-summer work across the system. "We have, looks like 5 full time staff and 3 seasonals," he said, and noted the division manages Ocean View Cemetery (about 50 acres), handles both full burials and cremains, and installs wayfinding signs to improve visitor navigation.
He described several recent projects: roofs added to exposed dugouts at one field, red sand applied to improve field aesthetics, pressure washing and preparation of the Maritime Memorial for Memorial Day (with assistance from Vancouver Granite Works), and a trench repair to an Aiken Field irrigation line that he said cost about $5,000. David said crews frequently respond to litter and livability complaints and that maintaining parks requires constant, small-scale work across many sites.
