County counsel to pursue agreed judgments and potential foreclosures for noncompliant Country Acres properties

Adams County counsel updated commissioners on enforcement actions for Country Acres properties that failed to comply with earlier abatement agreements and asked authority to enter agreed judgments and pursue foreclosure where owners default.
Counsel explained that aside from three properties that entered abatement agreements and came into compliance, most properties remain out of compliance despite a July 15 deadline. For smaller, single-parcel owners the county has filed agreed judgments that will carry statutory fines up to small-claims caps, and counsel said defaulting owners could face foreclosure actions and sheriff sales. "So in reality...what you do then is take that judgment lien...then come back to you and see if you would like me to move forward with foreclosure upon those judgment liens," counsel said.
A commissioner moved to authorize the attorney to proceed with enforcement actions; the motion passed. Counsel said he will enter agreed judgments and return to the board with updates as foreclosure steps proceed.
