Adams County commissioners were told that major bridge work this month will require lengthy closures that could disrupt school transportation.
Nathan (staff) reported that work on Bridge 142 (County Road 4300 West between 750 South and 850 South) is scheduled to begin the week of Aug. 17 and that the contractor’s current plan calls for a full closure of roughly 60 days. He said the county will issue notices to dispatch and school districts and encouraged schools to prepare alternate bus routes. "Work on that project is currently scheduled to start the week of August 17," Nathan said, stressing the need for early coordination with South Adams schools.
The county also expects Milestone Construction to begin rehabilitation on Bridge 105 (County Road 000) the week of Aug. 24. County staff characterized that project as shorter in duration, with a contracted window of about 45 days, but cautioned the closure will still require advance school and public notice. Commissioners directed staff to send hard-start-date notices to dispatch and schools a few days ahead of closures so districts can finalize alternate transit plans.
