The Santee School District Board voted Sept. 17 to contract with The Sobel Group, Inc. for investigative services to verify student residency after district staff reported receiving inconsistent residency documents that required additional time and posed safety concerns for staff conducting address checks.
Assistant Superintendent Dr. Marcia Hamilton told the Board the goal is to "ensure compliance with residency policies, and maintain fairness and transparency in the student enrollment process." Administration recommended the contract because on-site verification consumes staff time and can raise safety issues. Member Dianne El-Hajj moved approval and the Board approved the contract by a 4-0 vote.
