At‑large candidate Grace outlines approach to public engagement

Answering a committee question about handling conflict during public comments, Grace said she tries to respect people who participate in public processes and to start from points of agreement: "I usually wanna start with, like, let's let's start on where we do agree and use that momentum to see if if we can find more more overlap, or other common purpose." She added that different facilitation strategies are appropriate depending on whether the goal is to let everyone be heard or to find a common solution.
Committee members thanked Grace for applying and voted to send a recommendation to the executive's office to consider appointing the candidate; the chair said she would contact the executive's office about placement on the executive appointments agenda.
