Organizers seek annual partnership after successful McKinney historic 0.5 marathon trial run

They thanked city departments, volunteers and partners for on-the-ground help and presented a short highlight video captured by city videography.
"We had over 4,000 participants, and then with their family, friends, and other spectators, we anticipate about 7,800 were in attendance throughout that morning," Jody Jordan said. Organizers said most participants came from the local area but the event reached 28 states and four countries. They proposed a target date for future events in late March or early April and asked the council for support to develop a long-term partnership.
Councilmembers praised the event's organization and community impact; staff and Visit McKinney involvement were noted as key factors. Organizers said they would work with city guidelines and police and parks staff as they plan future dates.
