Board approves Boys & Girls Club MOUs; club outlines plan to remove 115‑child waitlist with ELOP funding

Danielle Azzelino Hodge, CEO, said the club serves roughly 2,000 children annually and averages about 650 students per day; the club reported a waitlist of 115 children and proposed adding seats to serve an additional 82 students next year using ELOP funds.
Dawn Amrine, the club’s chief operating officer, described how 83% of the ELOP/ACES funds proposed in the contract would pay for direct staff in after‑school programming and that the club intends to allocate much of the upcoming ELOP allocation to reduce the waitlist. Trustees asked detailed questions about literacy alignment (Orton‑Gillingham, Amira integration), the “Passport to Manhood” and “Smart Girls” national programs, and how the club coordinates summer and intersession programming with district teachers for small‑group academic intervention.
After the presentation trustees moved, seconded and approved the MOUs. Trustees also requested ongoing reporting on program alignment and recommended staff and the club continue work to ensure instructional continuity between school and after‑school literacy interventions.
