Tanisha Parchman, deputy city secretary, told the Visit McKinney board that the application window for city boards and commissions is open and will close on June 19.
"This is the time of year that we begin to accept applications from McKinney residents that are interested in serving on a board of commission," Parchman said, and she noted that interviews are scheduled for July and that the City Council will begin making appointments on Aug. 25 for terms that start Oct. 1, 2026. She reminded incumbents seeking reappointment to update and resubmit their existing applications online.
Parchman also said newly appointed and reappointed members must complete open-government training and any board-specific training by Oct. 1, 2026. The board did not take action on appointments at the meeting; Parchman’s presentation was informational and she stood for questions after concluding her remarks.
