Planning director Dan Folk introduced to Aspen commission

Ben Anderson, the city’s Community Development Director, introduced Dan Folk as the new Planning Director at the Aspen Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on May 7.
“For the record, Ben Anderson, Community Development Director,” Anderson said before introducing the hire. Dan Folk then addressed the commission, saying, “I’ve been working in planning and local government for about 28 years now,” and describing previous roles in Flagstaff and Manitou Springs. Folk told the commission he expects to attend regular meetings and is looking forward to working with staff and the commissioners.
The introduction followed initial procedural business and a short round of commissioner comments. Anderson said the city had not had a full-time planning director since 2020 and called Folk’s arrival “a huge advancement for the department.” The commission offered a brief welcome during the meeting’s staff updates section.
