Board accepts late appeal filing for Broad Ripple parcel, tables valuation to Aug. 28

The Marion County property appeals board voted to accept a late appeal filing after a Broad Ripple property owner said assessment notice had been sent to a California address and he missed the filing deadline as a result.
“I’ll make a motion to accept the late, filing,” board member Greg Rathnow said before the board approved the motion on a voice vote. Members instructed assessor staff to reexamine the parcel and asked the taxpayer to provide income and expense documentation or an appraisal if available. The board set the case for further review at its Aug. 28 meeting and formally tabled any substantive valuation decision to allow that exchange of evidence.
