The Crown Point Common Council on July 6 approved Resolution No. 2026-07-11R, accepting a petition to annex three parcels totaling 3.35 acres (1322 S. Indiana Ave. and 12309 & 12311 A S Grant St.). Mayor Peter D. Land said representatives for Choam, LLC will attend the next meeting to discuss the fiscal plan for utilities tied to the properties. The motion passed 7‑0.
During the meeting Member Scott Evorik objected to proceeding with the annexation ordinance without review by the Annexation Committee and asked that the ordinance's first reading be deferred. The Council agreed and deferred Ordinance No. 2026-07-18 to the Aug. 3, 2026 meeting to allow further review and for petition representatives to appear.
