Port Ludlow groups plan e-waste drive, beach cleanup and roadside cleanup this spring

Board and committee leaders urged residents to take part in a series of community cleanups this spring, including an e-waste recycling pop-up on May 15, a county-wide beach cleanup on April 25 and a volunteer roadside cleanup to be coordinated with county task-force partners.

"We are gonna do an e waste recycling event on May 15," the Chair said, describing a drive-through event where a nonprofit (PCs for People) will accept electronics for refurbishment and redistribution. The Chair also said the Port Townsend Marine Science Center is organizing a county-wide beach cleanup for April 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering supplies and garbage pickup support. For roadside cleanups, the Chair noted volunteers must complete a Washington State Patrol background check for organizers and that the county provides some equipment and disposal vouchers; wardrobe and cone needs were listed as unbudgeted costs.

Organizers encouraged volunteers and promised more details on logistics and sign-up in upcoming communications. The communications committee also reported local engagement for a second annual yard sale and other outreach efforts to recruit volunteers for these events.
