Port Ludlow utilities committee flags wastewater upgrade and long-range water/sewer planning

Members of the utilities and trails committee told the Port Ludlow Village Council they are updating a strategic plan that prioritizes aging water and sewer infrastructure, electric and fiber planning, and ecological bay-management coordination.
"They have continued discussion about the wastewater treatment plant upgrade, and they hope to have a funding and a funding and plan no later than the 4th 0.25 of 20 26," the Chair said during the utilities report, adding that "The 1st day of that is in the $3,500,000 range, I think." Committee members described parts of the system as over 60 years old and said long-term upgrades will be a multiyear effort that may involve special districts or other governance changes.
The committee also raised the idea of a longer-range conversation about the future of Port Ludlow's major assets, noting that private owners of the golf course, marina, hotel and village center may sell at some point and the community should consider preferred outcomes. Several members urged the board to recruit volunteer expertise and broaden community engagement; the committee said many items are still in draft and will require further public input at upcoming workshops.
Board members flagged water and sewer as particularly contentious and stressed that strategic priorities will need board blessing and new volunteers to carry work forward.
