Utility to mail 1,000 cross-connection surveys; customers warned of potential shutoff and charges
Summary
Staff told the council the utility collected about 800 cross-connection survey returns but must mail to about 1,000 customers who didn't respond; failure to return the survey could, per tariff/UTC, result in shutoff and auxiliary charges, and staff plans phone follow-up through February.

Diane (staff) summarized the cross-connection/backflow survey compliance work: roughly 800 customers have returned the survey and staff will mail notices to about 1,000 non-respondents. She said the tariff requires follow-up and that nonresponse can lead to shutoff and auxiliary charges for technician visits and reconnection.
Diane described the outreach plan: mailings will be completed no later than the end of January, follow-up phone calls will go into February, and staff will target village presidents and block captains for localized outreach. She encouraged residents to call the office when they observe brown water so crews can inspect the problem immediately.
