"For the first time ever, housing had a 100% compliance with our backflow assembly testing," the presenter said and noted that while not every report was returned on time, all assemblies were tested and none faced disconnection for noncompliance. He explained the cross‑connection program is mandated by the Department of Health to protect against backflow and that the utility mailed surveys to all customers; customers who fail to respond will receive a second survey and could be subject to inspection charges per the tariff.
Staff said the survey is also available online and asked community groups (HOA presidents) to help distribute the request to improve response rates. The presenter said limited operations staffing makes door‑to‑door site visits to nonresponders burdensome and urged customers to complete the online or mailed survey to avoid inspection charges.
