Jefferson County Department of Community Development staff said the county will set a date for a public hearing on the proposed Verizon wireless facility and will publish a staff report with a recommendation two weeks before the hearing.
"Anything you guys say today, I'm not gonna... You have to send it to me in email or writing because I can't remember what she said," the county planner (speaker 2) told the meeting, adding that written comments become exhibits in the hearing record. Staff repeatedly urged attendees to submit location-specific comments and to use the customer portal to view attachments.
Why it matters: submitting written comments places them in the administrative record that the independent hearing examiner will review before deciding whether the conditional use permit meets County Code criteria and CEPA requirements. Staff said they will forward comments to the applicant when appropriate and that responses from applicants may be provided in advance of or at the hearing.
Next steps: staff said they will issue a Notice of Public Hearing and prepare a DCD staff report; residents should expect the report roughly two weeks prior to the hearing and can continue submitting comments up until the hearing date.
