Hinckley-Big Rock elementary chess teams earn state finishes; coach recognized

At its March 18 meeting the Hinckley-Big Rock Board of Education recognized elementary chess teams that competed at the state tournament on March 8. The Kindergarten/first-grade team finished in 4th place, the second/third-grade team finished 9th, and the fourth/fifth-grade team placed 19th.
Superintendent Dr. Jessica Sonntag thanked volunteer coach Austin McMurtrie for his dedication to the students. The recognition was presented as part of the board's "Royal Shout Out" segment and carried no policy action or budgetary decision.
