Student representatives urge AI guidance, report interest in new extracurriculars

Student Representatives Savannah McMurtrie and Matthew Badal reported to the board that middle school students have expressed concerns about the condition of the track and that staff observed students using artificial intelligence to complete schoolwork. They said middle school advisory favored creating an exploratory class on appropriate AI use.
The student representatives also highlighted extracurricular developments: March 19 Exploration Night, the first softball season in seven years, Academic Bowl achievements, the music festival and an upcoming Drama Club production of Twelfth Night on April 10 and 11. They reported over 20 students expressed interest in participating in bowling and Dr. Sonntag said she is looking into establishing girls' and boys' bowling teams for next school year. The current student representatives will have their last board meeting in April when new student board representatives will be seated.
