The utility said PSPS and other wildfire-related outages are triggered by factors such as high temperatures, low humidity, dry fuels and high winds and that they use a Fire Potential Index (FPI) to guide daily operational decisions.
The company described an idealized notification timeline: a 24–48 hour watch that signals PSPS is possible and begins initial notifications; a 1–4 hour warning phase with intensified alerts; an active outage/ETR phase during an event with patrol and restoration work; and a restoration notice when power is returned. Idaho Power cautioned that enhanced protection settings and manual patrols can lengthen restoration times.
Customers were advised to register or update phone numbers in My Account, sign up for text alerts, and use outage maps for real-time ETR information.
