District staff recommends reconfiguring middle‑school well system after booster‑pump failure; K&K Drilling estimates $33,500.50
Summary
Following an October 2025 booster-pump failure, staff recommended permanently eliminating the underground storage tank and booster pump, drilling a second ~300-foot well, connecting both wells to pressure tanks with manual selection, and designating the better-quality well as primary; K&K Drilling provided a preliminary estimate of $33,500.50, to be considered in the FY27 budget.

Zane Holland reported that the middle school’s booster pump failed in October 2025 and that contractors temporarily rerouted the system so the main pump now supplies the building. Holland described that the temporary configuration is known to be a stopgap and recommended a permanent reconfiguration to improve reliability.
Holland recommended permanently eliminating the underground storage tank and booster pump; drilling a second, deeper well (approximately 300 feet) to access a separate aquifer; connecting both the existing and the new well pumps directly to the pressure tanks; configuring the system so either well can be manually selected; and designating the well with superior water quality as the primary source with the second as backup. Holland said K&K Drilling provided a preliminary estimate of $33,500.50, and staff proposed including the work in the FY27 budget. No formal vote was taken at the Feb. 4 meeting.
