The Hinckley-Big Rock Board of Education approved revisions to PRESS Policy 120 during its Feb. 18 meeting, voting 6-0 to adopt the changes after a second reading. The board also discussed enforcement of community-relations procedures to address unannounced, disruptive visits to school buildings.
Board members agreed to remove language referencing "same gender classrooms" from Policy 120, noting the district does not use that structure. The board discussed policy 8:30 (Community Relations) and asked parents and community members to make appointments and check in at school front desks for safety and order. The motion to approve the policy changes was made by Jack Haines and seconded by Debi White; the vote recorded Abigail Barrett: Yea, Debi White: Yea, Myia Sittig: Yea, Jack Haines: Yea, Tim Badal: Yea and Greg Pritchard: Yea.
The board scheduled a review of Section 4 (Operational Services, parts 4:10–4:40) for its March meeting. No changes to practice were announced beyond the policy language edits.
