The Hillsboro Community Unit School District #3 Board of Education voted on Feb. 27, 2025, to employ Dan Stewart as Hillsboro Junior High School Assistant Principal/Dean of Students. The motion to hire was made by board member Mike Cerutti and seconded by John Lentz; the board approved the appointment on a 4–3 roll call vote.
On the roll call, President Matt Lentz, board member Brian Patton, John Lentz and Mike Cerutti voted yes; Blake Furness, Kassie Greenwood and Nathan Kirby voted no. The action followed an executive session that the board convened at 5:31 p.m. and from which it returned at 6:15 p.m. The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. and adjourned at 6:18 p.m.
The minutes record the meeting as a special session held at the Hillsboro Unit Office. The board’s formal motion language as recorded in the minutes was: "Motion made by Mike Cerutti, seconded by John Lentz to employ Dan Stewart as Hillsboro Junior High School Assistant Principal/Dean of Students."
