Board told village charged $3,500 to clear vacant Elm/Holiday lot; lien placed on property

During public comment Trustee Mickey Brown asked whether the village mows the vacant corner property at Elm and Holiday. Director Dzialo said the village had not cleaned the property except for an initial clearing last summer and that "That clearing incurred a $3500.00 cost passed to the owner in a property lien." Chief Copp asked whether any outstanding fines were included in that initial lien; Attorney Jennifer Gibson replied that the lien could be adjusted through the court with documentation, and Chief Copp said he would provide the citations and amounts to the attorney for review.
The board did not vote on the matter at the meeting; the exchange was recorded in the minutes and may prompt follow-up action by the chief and village attorney to reconcile fines with the lien.
