County staff reported that Cayuga County is currently seeing increased numbers related to suicidal ideation and harmful ideation, while cautioning that the counts may reflect multiple hospital visits by the same individual rather than separate people. Staff said the state is exploring the development of a State Suicide Coalition and promised to share additional information as it becomes available.
Separately, the county announced a Mental Health Disaster Response clinical training planned for June intended to develop a disaster response team. No dates or enrollment details were provided at the March 12 meeting; staff said more information will be distributed when available.
