Trustees consider Poplar culvert variance; resident seeks advice on garage-to-living-space conversion

In new business President Jeff Giles described a variance request from residents at 1509 Poplar seeking permission to extend culvert pipe beyond the allowed 40 feet and to use particular materials. Giles said he will seek advice from the Nunda Township Road District on length, pitch and allowable materials before issuing a permit; no permit decision was made at the May 21 meeting.
During public comment a resident on Elder asked about tearing down an existing garage and building a new garage structure with some living space. The minutes note that such living-area conversions are not allowed under current ordinance but that the resident has sewer access and could connect to sewer; the resident requested guidance on how to proceed. The Board gave no formal direction or variance at the meeting.
