At the March 19, 2026 Insurance Committee meeting, Dr. Teri Shaw introduced Christiane Bock of Alliant, who presented data showing a steep rise in the district’s health insurance costs and outlined a proposed Health Savings Account (HSA) contribution from the School Board. The packet shown to the committee reported district insurance costs increasing from $1,543,950 in the 2019–2020 school year to $2,884,542.50 for 2025–2026.
Ms. Bock told the committee that employees enrolled in a qualified high‑deductible health plan (HDHP) would be eligible to participate in an HSA and that the School Board is offering to contribute $2,000 to each participating employee’s HSA on day one of each fiscal year for the next three years. The presentation noted employee pre‑tax contribution limits of up to $4,400 for single coverage and up to $8,750 for family coverage, and said there will be options to invest funds in the HSA. Committee members asked clarifying questions during the discussion.
The packet also made clear that the district will continue to offer both HMO and PPO plan options and that dental and vision plans will remain separate; however, HSA funds may be used to pay dental and vision expenses. The committee set additional meeting dates — March 26, April 9, April 16 and April 23 — for follow‑up. The minutes do not record a formal vote adopting the HSA contribution; the only recorded motion and vote in the minutes was to adjourn the meeting.
