Student representatives announce vaping assembly Jan. 26, sports-schedule changes and potential middle-school cross country

Student representatives Alex Casanas and Matthew Badal updated the Board on student life at the Jan. 21 meeting. They said a vaping-education assembly is scheduled for Jan. 26 featuring guest speaker Rob Holla from Texas; two sessions are planned, one at the middle school and one at the high school. The students also said summer sports-camp information will be distributed in February and that the middle school will follow the IESA schedule for some sports to increase competition opportunities.
The students gave a shout-out to Ryan Shay for participating in the ILMEA band competition on Jan. 29–30. Board members and administrators also discussed a potential middle-school cross-country program in response to growing student interest.
