District reports mid-year finances trending to plan, flags ~$50,000 in unbudgeted maintenance

At the Jan. 21 Board meeting Dr. Jessica Sonntag provided a mid-year financial update: after the second quarter, the district had received 45% of expected revenue and expended 48% of budgeted expenditures. She told the Board there are approximately $50,000 in maintenance costs not included in the adopted budget so far, including replacement of an elementary-school water heater, replacement of a middle-school well pump, repair of the high-school gym floor and repair of an HVAC leak in the high-school gym ceiling.
Sonntag said instructional staff are completing curriculum mapping and will use IAR and Project Learning data to identify instructional gaps. The high-school math department is reviewing curricular options to provide multiple pathways for student success. The Board did not take additional budget action at the meeting beyond designating staff to prepare the FY2027 tentative budget.
