Residents urge Pasadena to hold Caltrans accountable for neglected houses tied to Roberti Act

Several residents asked the council to press Caltrans to repair and properly transfer ownership of long-neglected homes the agency still controls. Tanya Katenin described her parents' Caltrans-owned house, documented rusted pipes, mold and unrepaired crash damage and urged the council to "hold Caltrans accountable, demand timely repairs, and ensure the sales process honors the families who have preserved these homes for generations."

Public commenters said the Roberti Act's promises have not been met and flagged a lack of transparency in the sales process that has left tenants uncertain about their prospects for homeownership. Council members acknowledged the concerns and said staff would coordinate with relevant departments and continue oversight. The council did not take a formal action during the meeting on the Caltrans issue but the matter was raised repeatedly in public comment.
