Hillsboro board gets high school project update; trustees told local tax covers $13 million of $31.7M cost

Superintendent Powell updated the Hillsboro Community Unit School District #3 Board on the high school construction timeline and finances, saying the district remains on track. "The total project cost at the high school is $31,714,314. Of the total cost, $13,000,000 is coming from local property tax and the rest is coming from other grant sources," Powell said, and added the district will not need to use working cash.
Powell also reported construction progress and summer work: everything will be cleared from the old building by the end of the week and asbestos abatement is nearly complete. Trustees did not debate funding sources further during the meeting and took no additional action beyond receiving the update.
