School board ratifies Magnolia Ridge attendance-zone reassignment

The St. Charles Parish School Board unanimously approved a resolution Dec. 10 ratifying the reassignment of the Magnolia Ridge area to Enrollment Zone 6, which aligns the neighborhood with Mimosa Park Elementary and Lakewood Elementary.
Chair introduced the resolution and said district staff replaced vague narrative descriptions with clear boundary definitions based on physical features such as streets, right-of-way, parcel lines and water courses. The board authorized the superintendent or the superintendent's designee to update official maps, geographic information system files and the attendance-zone digital search tool and to notify affected families and staff. "That item passes unanimously," the chair said after the motion and vote.
The resolution adopts the revised narrative descriptions as the official boundary language, directs clerical and ministerial corrections if needed, and sets the revisions to take effect upon publication of the updated map and narratives in the district's digital search tool. The board also directed staff to coordinate communications so the Magnolia Ridge area is properly represented to parents and stakeholders.
