RJ Corman tells Horry County council the Carolina line is growing toward 10,000 carloads

Adam Boyles, senior director of commercial development for RJ Corman, told the INR subcommittee that traffic on the Carolina line has grown rapidly and the company expects continued growth into 2025.
"This year, we'll be at 10,000 carloads for this railroad," Boyles said, describing a jump from dozens of cars annually when the county lease began to several thousand today. He noted about 14 miles of the line are leased from Horry County and around 50 miles run within the county, and the company works to limit impacts to river traffic and crossings while maintaining infrastructure.
Councilmembers thanked RJ Corman for maintenance and emphasized public concerns about early-morning horn noise and potential roadway impacts; Boyles said his team will continue to coordinate with county staff on community concerns and on projects such as the Turn Bridge in Conway. The update was provided for information and no formal action was taken.
