Commissioners sign Bridge 351 engineering contract; discuss temporary lane restriction to address 21‑ton limit

County Attorney Susan Bevers reported that United Consulting had returned a revised engineering contract for Bridge 351 following requested edits and that the contract was ready for execution. Commissioner Drew Storey signed the hard copy of the contract on behalf of the Commissioners during the meeting.

Storey also reported he met with representatives of the East End Industrial Park about concerns over the bridge’s 21‑ton weight restriction. He said discussions are underway with INDOT about the possibility of restricting use to one traffic lane temporarily, which would likely require permanent‑style barriers and could require a related ordinance. No ordinance was proposed or voted on at this meeting; the discussion was presented as a planning step and next steps were described as continuing conversations with INDOT and affected stakeholders.
