Police report: low call volume, technology upgrades and Halloween safety plans

Chief W. Chief W. Copp reported that from Sept. 17 to the meeting date the department recorded 16 calls, including 15 traffic-related stops resulting in 20 citations/tickets, two warnings and one administrative tow; the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office made nine calls in the same interval. He said the department’s Windows 11 upgrades for squad-car computers are installed and that the department is working to resolve printer connectivity. "HHPD is one of only 8 in county that are compliant! A Win!" Chief Copp said.
Chief Copp said he is completing background checks on three potential hires and that the BlueLine.com ad remains active but not on the site’s first page. He reminded residents that vehicle stickers remain available and warned that ordinance-violation penalties are typically more costly than the sticker fee. He announced Village Trick-or-Treat hours for Oct. 31 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and said he and Officer Bacon plan to drive through and hand out treats.
