Director reports 4% circulation increase and ongoing HVAC control issues at Coralville Public Library

Director Alison Ames Galstad told the board on July 8 that overall circulation had increased 4% and that 66% of circulation was in physical items, up from a typical 60%. Galstad said use of hotspots, Hoopla and OverDrive were up while Kanopy was slightly down, and staff observed building foot traffic at levels they believe are higher than previously recorded.
Galstad also reported that automated controls for the HVAC system have not yet been installed, which has caused the building to run cold at times when outside temperatures are high because "the boiler still runs in the summer and balances out the chiller." Board members asked for clarification on receipt line items and Galstad said Government Funding reflects the county quarterly allocation and that gifts included checks from neighboring cities and $14,850 from the Foundation for wishlist items.
