Holiday Hills reviews police activity, plans to interview part-time officer candidate in December

Chief W. Copp presented the police department report at the Nov. 19 meeting, saying there were 28 calls since Oct. 15, including 27 traffic stops (18 citations and 9 warnings), two administrative tows and zero parking tickets; the McHenry County Sheriff's Office made six calls to the village during the period. The board verbally agreed to have a candidate for a part-time officer present at the Dec. 10 meeting for further interview; the minutes note the hiring discussion was confidential in executive session and that no formal motion was necessary.
Chief Copp also described complaints about speeding and drivers ignoring stop signs and said he will shift his hours to make early morning observations and to issue warnings or citations as appropriate. The board did not take a formal hiring vote on Nov. 19 but scheduled follow-up at the December meeting.
